A Dad’s Life is curated and built by me with a lot of trial and error over long hours. I’m not a professional website developer but I enjoy tinkering with code and Photoshop as it feeds my creative juices.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the site’s design: email me.
Code is poetry
That is the tagline for WordPress, the free blogging platform that this site is built on. I believe that the code lying beneath everything you see on the Internet can be poetry and that’s why I support the Web Standards Project. I also think that Håkon Wium Lie is a genius for proposing the concept of CSS to Sir Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau at CERN back in 1994. These guys are smart!
I rely on a WordPress framework called Thesis to efficiently design the site and maintain excellent SEO. All coding and design work is done using Coda and Photoshop. I work on a early 2011 Macbook Pro running OS X Lion.
The site currently uses Typekit to serve most of its text. I’m using League Gothic, Museo slab, Sorts Mill Goudy and a touch of Tamarillo.
The site lives on a kick-butt Mediatemple server.
