Diary of a Wimpy KidMy son is not an avid reader…yet.  So, I was surprised to see him clinging to a book he had purchased at Costco with his mother.  Then I read the title, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”, and became even more nervous.

Why is my son reading this? Does he think he’s wimpy? Nerdy? He’s not.

Rather than confront him, I took a look at the book when he wasn’t looking and did some research on the old Internet. Well, was I in for a surprise!  It’s a VERY popular book.

I spoke to my wife about it and she told me that all the kids in his class are reading it. It’s very funny, cool and, best of all, educational for the kids.  Anything that gets them to talk about something other than Pokemon is welcomed, in my opinion. Heck, if it’s also educational and is a book, I’m all for it.

One of the good articles I found on it is the LA Times review of books 1 and 2.  Apparently, it’s a volume set that continues to grow.
